Fleets or owner-operators and trucking businesses can use Amazon's short-term contracts, load boards for Amazon's freight network, check-in apps to schedule pickups, and options to post when their trucks are empty and ready for the next load.
To join Amazon’s transportation network, your trucking company must meet the following minimum requirement:
- An active DOT number with interstate authority and a valid MC number
- A “Carrier” entity type that is Authorized for Property and For-Hire
- A Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Safety Rating of “Satisfactory,” “None,” or “Not Rated”
- Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASIC) scores:
- Unsafe Driving below 60%
- HOS Compliance below 60%
- Vehicle Maintenance below 75%
Amazon generally works with the following types of equipment:

Carriers are required to carry the following policies:
- Commercial General Liability not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 in the aggregate
- Auto Liability not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence, including a trailer replacement coverage of $50,000
- Cargo coverage of at least $100,000
- Workers’ compensation insurance in all jurisdictions where your company operates
- Employer liability not less than $100,000 per occurrence
In addition to safety and DOT requirements, Amazon requires carriers to carry insurance at the time of submitting the application.

To qualify for Amazon Flex Driver, you must meet the following requirements:
- Must be 21 years old or older
- A social security number
- Pass a background check
- Access to qualifying vehicle:
- 4-door Sedan
- Pickup Truck
- Van
- Valid driver's license
- Proof of auto insurance
- Smart Phone
- Iphone 6s running iOS 13 or newer
- Android phone running Android version 6.0 or higher
Amazon Flex Auto Insurance
To qualify for Flex, you must have your own personal auto insurance policy.
- Policy must state, "the required insurance for delivering packages in your area"
- Auto Liability Coverage clause offers up to $1 million per incident as vehicle liability to cover any damage to the third party - both the driver and property
- Uninsured or Underinsured motorist coverage $1 million per accident to cater for bodily injury to you and your passengers, damages to your vehicle, and/or in the event that the other motorist is at fault and doesn’t carry enough insurance
- Contingent comprehensive and collisions coverage $50k per accident to cover Amazon Flex drivers who have comprehensive coverage on their personal auto policy. It caters for any damage to your vehicle caused by an incident when making deliveries for Amazon. A hefty $1,000 deductible also applies.
